White Rabbit, starring Nick Krause, Sam Trammell and Britt Robertson is coming out Tomorrow in selected limited release but also VOD demand the same day.  It's won several awards already, including Best film in Catalina and best actor for Sam Trammell from Boston film festival.  Had I not done the Comic art for the film I would still recommend people watch it.  As it is not only a great movie with some fantastic performances, but also touches on subject matter that we should all be talking about.  And I believe it does so in a very respectful and honest fashion.  I will be at the LA screening on Friday the thirteenth (don't think that hasn't been lost on me considering the dark subject matter) and can't wait for the film to touch a mass audience.

Congrats to the team for "White Rabbit" for winning the Catalina Film Festival Best Feature award for 2014.  I am extraordinarily proud to have been a part of it and to have had my work be such a big part of that film.  The movie has had a distribution deal (finally) and should be screening at 10 Major Cities across the US starting in Early 2015.

Having gone through my share of bullying growing up and the number of violent shootings that have been on the rise and have steadily been getting more press, I felt this movie really handled the subject manner extraordinarily well, and in a way that was accurate yet really walked a fine line about difficult subject matter.  I was hesitant to take the project originally as the Colorado Movie theater shooting had just happened that day.  However a friend of mine pointed out that like any difficult subject we need to be able to create and support an ongoing dialogue about it.  You never know about Hollywood projects, but the producers, writers and actors took this project and created something powerful and truthful. The respect I have for them for doing so well this is incredibly high.  Congrats guys the award is well deserved.  =)

Making the trek back to the East Coast this year.  Hoping everyone is finding something to be thankful about.  =)  Suggestions would include the fact that you have power & Internet access if you are reading this.

... yes... working.... well.... yes...
Having had a rough couple of months.  I am attempting to pull myself out of whatever rut I'm in by recognizing I have responsibilities and promises to keep and fulfill.  I feel like I'm moving but at a snails pace.  Still, you have to crawl before you can walk.  Sometimes slow is the only speed you are capable of, but as long as the direction is forward, it's good enough.
First off I'm just recovering from doing some Comic Work in a Feature film "White Rabbit"  Starring Nick Krause & Sam Trammell. www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat…
It was a lot of fun but the deadline was Hell.  While I thought the script was Dark I also found it very in depth.  As someone who had a rough time in school myself, I thought a lot of the scenes & Characters were constructed very well.  Tim & Shaun were fantastic to work with and I know they're going to do a great job.  While a lot of Cover & poster art, there is some story telling Art that should get Animated and featured as a key part of the story.  I'll post some when I get the okay, thought that might be a year from now.  Who knows?
Second I'd like to congratulate my Buddy Ian for his Science Fiction Short story collection hitting the top 20 in Free Sci-Fi downloads.  If anyone is interested, please check them out.  They have an awesome cover artist.  ;-)

On top of all of this my Wife & I have been having some personal challenges along the way.  To say it has been taxing, draining and a roller coaster ride of difficulty, Joy, Depression, Hope and frustration is an understatement.  I love my wife very much and I would not engage in such battles with anyone else by my side.  Still at the moment we are so very tired.  I hope to use this to push me a little harder on some of my own projects.  Hopefully I'll be able to post them as well soon.  Thanks for reading.

So while I've been delayed here and there from focusing fully on Masque, the delays themselves have produced some interesting work.  IE my last deviation submitted.  Done for a friend I did end up liking what I did for it and thought it came out well.  I wish them well with their E-Book and urge people to check it out.  There is a link on the Journey's of Wonder image for the short stories.

Other than that I've decided I'm going to try to post and submit at least a sketch once a week in an effort to stop letting my Graphic design work overwhelm everything I do.  A lot of it should be "Dragon" Oriented right now so, if you like Dragons you'll be happy... and who doesn't like dragons?

On another note.  I am Flyers fan and I am delighted that so many of my former favorite Flyers are on the Kings both behind the bench and on the ice, and are poised to finally win their first cup.  The totally deserve it.  I want people to know I called the Kings in the Finals... thought they were playing the Flyers in my head.  ;-)  Living in LA I feel this was the second best outcome for the Stanley cup finals for me that I could hope for.

Go Kings!!!!

Well Resolutions are made to be broken and I fell short on the last one about keeping up my DA account.  Though to be fair I've had a lot happen to me in that time.  I've gotten Married, Bought a house and have started to put together some client lists.  I can no longer afford to to free art for people, only myself and for things I own.  I'm in a place I never saw myself being and I'm pretty happy.  I like being homeowner and being married.  I'm sure there will be days I hate it.  But it's nice to know I like it, makes those days easier to deal with.  ;-)

I've still got a crazy array of art and such I haven't posted yet and I'll have more underway.  I'm planning to get my webcomic "Masque of the Dragons" up and going, (Finally)  I've got started on the art and I'm profecting the process.  I'm planning on starting slow as I'm at the mercy of other forces in my life currently.  My Goal is to make a light pace and stick with it.  Get ahead and have pages in the can.

I will also be opening things up for Commissions and eventually selling the original pages from my Comic (once I get a high enough demand for them.  ;-)  I want to be drawing things I really enjoy, and my favorite thing to draw is story panels.  I want to embrace that.

Thanks for reading.  I'm going to get back to drawing.  =)

I've already posted about Westboro vs. Geeks at Comic Con.  So you know how I feel about these guys.  That they truly are such a horrible example of people, let alone Christians.  While I do wish that the recent Supreme Court verdict could have brought about something positive in the Case against Fred Phelps.  I do understand and agree with their protection of free speech.

Perhaps though there is a lessen for us through this.  Maybe waiting for the powers that be to define our right and wrong is not the way America works.  America is about creating a level playing field, not giving one side or the other an advantage.  Maybe we can only stand against the evil, vile and ignorant people of this world by taking action in a peaceable show of Solidarity ourselves.   And with that I give you some more hope...

There have been many times I've been both proud and ashamed to be a geek.  This year at Con was definitely a pride moment.  Many of you might have heard the Westboro Baptist church decided to protest Comic Con this year.  Stating we geeks were worshiping false idols.

For Background info the Westboro Baptists have protested many other events including funerals for gay soldiers who died for their country.  Even going so far as telling said families that they were glad their sons were dead.  So yes, they are the horror of humanity and if that weren't sickening enough, they attempt to pass off their actions as "Christian Beliefs".

So when they took on Comic Con I was so proud that the biggest collection of people who are intolerant of Intolerance steamrolled these 'Baptists' with Sarcasm and Wit, while never falling to the level of those they were mocking.

Decency & Morality are not religious beliefs, they are a human one.  Develop some Class Westboro.

Okay, after much soul searching I've decided it's put up or shut up time with my art.  I need to expand my creative skills and speed.  I need more drawing more creativity and while I've been going pretty hard with the Bluewater Books I haven't really been getting more people following me.  So while Muggles and Mundies may make their Resolutions come after New Years, Mine come Post Comic Con in late July.  I have various projects that I am setting to work on, including updating my Deviant art once a week.  I'm setting the bar for at least once a week for the next 3 months. So I have been lucky enough to be granted a Watch by you, I aim to earn that privilage over the next 3 months.  Hopefully convince some others to hit me up as well.  Peace and love to you all.

Well I can finally announce the Comic project I've been working on so Diligently.  I've been doing the interior art for the JK Rowling Biography for Bluewater Comics.  It's a lot of work and pressure doing a comic on an actual living person.  I'm still praying everything goes right.  This should free me up to start doing some sketches & maybe try for some Commissions if anyone's interested.  You can check up the write up on MTV of all places.

So Here's my Office Birthday Story.  My birthday was on Thursday. I took the previous tuesday off work.  I get in Wednesday and The receptionist tells me that they combined my birthday with someone else's and celebrated it on Tuesday, when I wasn't there.  She said they left the cake out for me.   So they celebrated my birthday on a day that wasn't my birthday when I wasn't there in combination with someone else.
The crazy thing is I really don't care about the office birthday party... but that's pretty lame.

It's bad enough as geeks we get alot of disrespectful crap thrown on us.  We have the things we love stamped as uncool by those to preoccupied with explosions & nakedness to look deeper at stories.
But to be disassociated by one of our own hurts alot.
The Sci-fi channel, in an attempt to appeal to a more mainstream audience, are changing their spelling of their name to the 'SyFy' Channel.  This would normally go unrecorded but they stated their reasons for doing so.  They're reasoning was they were trying to disassociate with their fanbase of "adult geeks still living in  their parents basement".
While I do not fall into this catagory, anymore, I do find it very distressing.  First off, Sarcasm... "Wow changing the spelling of your name using little used vowels... that's not something a Geek would do and think it's cool." (ahhh... that feels better)
My real concern is the wrong headed problems that seem to be the purview of Cable TV Channels.  The purpose of Cable channels like The Sci-fi, Discovery, and History channels was to provide Niche entertainment to those who wish to view.  However much like everyone else, these stations are wanting to appeal to a broader base.  Understandable, but they are attempting to change their content and clientel to reflect that.  The Sci-fi Channel wants to appeal to women, the history channel wants to appeal to youth, what's next the Oxygen network starting to broadcast football to appease their non-existant male audience?  We already have Networks and they are for the most part failing.  We don't need 300 channels that are all the same.
TV Shows, Actors, Writers, Producers all seem to run into this tired pattern.  Believing that true success is mainstream success.  Unfortunatly the truth is mainstream is fickle and has ADD.  Do you think TV shows with cult followings like Family Guy, Firefly or Arrested Development would have failed on Cartoon, Sci-fi or Comedy Networks?  They'd have been star Shows like Battlestar, which would have been canceled & aired out of sequence if it was on a network. (I realize Family guy came back, but it never would have left in the first place)
Cable has a place and purpose addressing the needs of the Niche comunity.  It's a haven of diversity that allows various individuals to enjoy TV.  I hardly begrudge Sci-fi or history from trying to attract new followers, but please, don't insult your current viewers, whomever they are.  It's not their fault you can't pick up girls as a Sci-fi executive.  Good luck getting laid as a SYFY employee.
